Chapter - 18

....Doctors are expressing their apprehensions that the next two/three weeks are very important to us due to the way the number of Corona-positive cases are increasing just now throughout the world. Many countries announced 'complete lockdown'.
Mohidhar has read the news at one go and sighed. The newspaper has remained in his hand as he starts to think about how the dangerous virus has spread in the whole world. The picture is the same everywhere in the East, West, South, and North. He remembered a few lines from a poem written by him -
Along the one-way road towards death
        Carrying the broken caravan
    The powerful spine of time
        Is decayed infested by insects?

Really, it seems that a procession of death is going on. None knows when and how it will end.
A few lines from the famous poem “The Ballad of East and West” by the poet Rudyard Kipling came to his mind.
"Oh, East is East, and West is West,
And never the twain shall meet"

The proud utterance of a gratified western poet has lost its resonance today. The virus named Corona has united the east and the west with the bond of fear and death. In these terrible times, nature seems to burst into silent laughter and is denoting with the finger how helpless the greatest creature 'man' looks and how dangerous are the achievements of human civilization!
Today an all-pervading fear has made the whole world mute. The way all the people of the Earth are fighting against the powerful disease standing side by side, with limitless attention building up resistance with all their might and using all their talent, skill and economic power to create a vaccine for the disease, - if mankind would have used a small part of this endeavour to conserve the health and beauty of the Earth, to use and preserve the immense natural wealth in the right manner and to put an end to the terrible air pollution; then the whole of mankind would not have to face the question mark named Coronavirus whose answer is not available to mankind, at least not until now.
The advanced human civilisation is confronting the most difficult calculation at present. It seems an effort to fight a very strong opponent. This is true that today every person attached to medical treatment all over the world is playing the role of an 'Angel' being inspired with the thought, "Either we shall be successful in our endeavour, or we shall die". Healthcare professionals have thrown a challenge to coronavirus standing face to face on the battlefield. But they are also helpless after a limit as the suitable corona vaccine has not been produced till now. Yet the whole of nature has silently opened her storage of weapons and wealth for mankind. So lovely yet infallible those weapons are! The proper preservation and use of these weapons only will be able to save mankind from danger. But there is a ray of hope. Whenever the human civilization along the way of its evolution has faced extreme danger, its existence is in jeopardy, just then with the help of the natural world it has found the key to be rescued. Then with bleeding but strong steps it has reached its desired destination. The same will happen again this time.
While thinking of all these Mohidhar starts to shiver and taking his diary begins to write -

 The corona parasites are engrossed
In the conspiracy to destroy the civilization
Still, human civilization will be the winner
The Earth will guide it in the right direction.

In this regard, Mohidhar remembers another critical situation human civilization had fallen into.
That was the year 1945 and in the month of August. August 1945 would be marked as a black spot in the history of human civilization forever. In that August, towards the end of the Second World War, America dropped a very powerful Atom Bomb on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Millions of people died, thousands became disabled, and the hazardous radioactivity harmed generations after generations of people in the two cities. All of us more or less know those things.
But my intention is to inform that when the city of Hiroshima turned completely into the wreckage, then on the basis of words of Dr. Jacobsen, a scientist of the Manhattan project, people firmly believed that Hiroshima had turned into a huge mound of garbage and in the next seventy years, there would not grow even a few sprouts of grass.
But proving the predictions of the experts to be wrong, in the same year Oleander flowers bloomed in autumn and in the century-old Camphor trees new branches started to grow.
All these prove that only the Earth has the power to create something new even after the extreme destruction. Compared to the creativity of the Earth the utmost effort of destruction by human beings is quite negligible. If we would not have dangerously polluted the environment, nature and weather spread around us, if our mentality to spread economic and political influence on other countries would not have made us devoid of humanity, then the way coronavirus has spread today the dreadful kingdom of death throughout the world, would not have been possible.
The reason is that whatever is born on the Earth - whenever is born, its death warrant is also determined by the Earth. Coronavirus has shown quite explicitly that with the ingredients collected from the Earth and man will create the medicine for the deadly disease and that will be the greatest blessing given to mankind by the Earth in this century.
